Lotte World vs Everland: which Korean theme park to pick
One is mostly indoors and on the subway. The other is bigger, wilder and an hour out of town. Your choice comes down to time, weather and how much you care about coasters and pandas.
Pick Lotte World for a short trip, bad weather or an evening in Seoul; pick Everland if you have a full free day and want real coasters, a safari and the pandas.
Quick answer
- Lotte World: in Jamsil, connected to the subway, mostly indoors. A 1-Day ticket is 67,000 won for adults, or 55,000 won after 4 p.m.
- Everland: in Yongin, about an hour from central Seoul on the new 4105 bus. Day tickets for adults run 55,000 to 71,000 won by season since October 6, 2026.
- Foreigner discounts: neither park advertises one at the gate, but resellers sell foreigner-only tickets well below list price. Bring your passport.
- Pandas: the Everland twins Rui Bao and Hui Bao are due to leave for China in the third week of December 2026.
- Lotte World adult
- 67,000 won (After 4: 55,000)
- Everland adult
- 55,000 to 71,000 won by season
- Lotte World from Seoul
- On Line 2 and 8, Jamsil
- Everland from Seoul
- About 1 hour by bus 4105
You’ve got one free day for a theme park, maybe with kids pulling in one direction and a partner who just wants to ride something tall. Seoul has two big names, and from the photos they look like the same idea. They aren’t. Lotte World is a city park you can reach on the subway. Everland is a proper day out in the hills south of Seoul, with a zoo attached.
The short version
If you have a short trip, unreliable weather or only half a day, go to Lotte World. It’s in Jamsil, connected to Jamsil Station, and most of it is under a roof. If you have a full day, good weather and someone in your group who cares about big coasters, safari animals or pandas, go to Everland. It’s the better park, but it costs you around two hours of round-trip travel.
Doing both on one trip only makes sense for theme park fans or families on a longer stay. For most people, one is plenty.

Ticket prices in 2026
Both parks raised prices this year.
Lotte World raised its 1-Day ticket on April 1, 2026, SBS Biz reported, with the adult price going from 64,000 to 67,000 won. Current prices listed by Trip.com:
| Lotte World | 1-Day | After 4 (entry from 4 p.m.) |
|---|---|---|
| Adult (19+) | 67,000 won | 55,000 won |
| Teen (13 to 18) | 58,000 won | 47,000 won |
| Child (36 months to 12) | 50,000 won | 39,000 won |
| Baby (12 to 36 months) | 17,000 won | 17,000 won |
Lotte World’s Magic Pass, which lets you skip lines, was split into four tiers from April 3, 2026, priced from 54,000 to 80,000 won. The cheapest tier doesn’t cover Gyro Drop, Atlantis or Comet Express, so read the tier details before buying.
Everland uses seasonal pricing and raised its day ticket by 3,000 won on October 6, 2026, Money Today reported. Adult and teen prices are the same:
| Everland season | Months | Adult and teen day ticket |
|---|---|---|
| Peak | April, May, October | 71,000 won |
| High | June, September, November | 65,000 won |
| Regular | All other months | 55,000 won |
Child tickets cost less; check the current price on Everland’s site, because the reports we found only covered adults.
Foreigner discounts
Neither park’s own ticket desk advertises a foreigner rate, but both sell discounted foreigner-only tickets through resellers. Trazy’s Lotte World ticket advertises up to 49% off and requires a passport check at entry. Seoul Travel Pass lists a foreigner-only Everland day pass at 51,000 won for September and October 2026 and 44,200 won for November and December. These deals beat walking up to the window by a wide margin, so it’s worth buying in advance. Korean nationals can be refused on these tickets, so mixed groups should check the terms.
Everland’s Q-Pass, which reserves slots on popular attractions such as Panda World and Safari World, has been sold to foreign passport holders through Klook since 2024. On a busy day it can make the difference between seeing the pandas and not.
Getting there from Seoul
Lotte World is the easy one. Take Line 2 or Line 8 to Jamsil Station and follow the underground passage. It’s inside the Seoul area, so a Climate Card or T-money covers you (our transit card guide explains which to get).
Everland takes planning. Your options:
- Bus 4105 (new from August 1, 2026). A direct express bus from the Seoul Station bus transfer center via Myeongdong, Namdaemun Market and Itaewon. Everland says it takes about an hour, compared with 1 hour 40 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes on the old transfer routes. For most visitors staying north of the river, this is now the best option.
- Bus 5002. The Gangnam-side option, stopping near Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam and Yangjae stations.
- Subway. Bundang Line to Giheung, change to the Everline light rail, ride to the end at Jeondae-Everland, then take the free shuttle bus to the gate. It works, but it’s the slowest.
- Tour shuttle. Trazy runs a round trip from Hongik University (9:00 a.m.), Seoul Station (9:20), Myeongdong (9:30), Jongno 3-ga (9:40) and Dongdaemun History & Culture Park (9:50). It leaves Everland at 6:30 p.m. and takes 1 to 1.5 hours each way. Handy with kids, but you can’t stay for the evening.
The Climate Card doesn’t cover Everland, which is outside Seoul. Pay with T-money.
Crowds and weather
This is where the two parks really differ.
Lotte World’s indoor Adventure section doesn’t care about weather. Rain, July humidity or January cold just mean more people inside. Magic Island, the outdoor part on Seokchon Lake, can stop some rides in bad weather, according to Korea Trip Tips. That makes Lotte World a solid rainy-day plan in Seoul. The flip side is that indoor queues and noise can feel intense on weekends and school holidays.
Everland is outdoors and hilly. Spring and autumn are lovely, which is exactly why April, May and October are its most expensive months. Summer is hot. Winter is cold, and some outdoor thrill rides pause. T Express, Everland’s signature coaster with a 77-degree drop and a top speed of 104 km/h, usually closes for safety checks for around a month each winter. In 2025 it reopened on February 14. If T Express is the reason you’re going, check its status before a winter visit.
At both parks, arrive at opening on weekdays if you can. The longest waits are for T Express and Panda World at Everland and for Atlantis and Gyro Drop at Lotte World.
The panda question
Panda World is a big draw at Everland, and timing matters this year. The Korea Times reported on September 30, 2026 that the twins Rui Bao and Hui Bao, born at Everland in 2023, are due to move to China in the third week of December 2026. China owns all giant pandas, including those born abroad, and they have to leave before turning four.
Their parents Ai Bao and Le Bao remain. A new female cub was born on June 3, 2026, and as of July Everland had not yet put her on public view. If seeing the twins matters to your group, go before mid-December.
Lotte World Tower and Aquarium, briefly
Lotte World sits next to Lotte World Tower, which has the Seoul Sky observatory on floors 117 to 123 and the Lotte World Aquarium in the mall at its base. Both are separate tickets. Some reseller packages bundle the aquarium with the park. If you’re in Jamsil anyway, the observatory works well as an evening add-on after an After 4 park visit, and our Seoul night views guide covers it among the other options.
Mistakes that catch visitors out
Buying at the gate. List prices are the worst deal at both parks. Buy a foreigner-only ticket in advance.
Treating Everland as a half day. With travel, it’s a full day. Arriving at 1 p.m. means seeing a fraction of it.
Missing the shuttle back. The Trazy shuttle doesn’t wait. If you want to stay for evening shows, take bus 4105 or 5002 instead.
Planning Everland around T Express in winter. Check first.
Buying the cheapest Lotte World Magic Pass for the big rides. The Light tier excludes Gyro Drop, Atlantis and Comet Express.
What we’d do
First trip, five days or fewer: Lotte World on an After 4 ticket, followed by Seoul Sky or a walk around Seokchon Lake. You save a whole day for the city.
Families with young children: Lotte World in rain or cold. Everland in spring or autumn if the kids love animals, with Safari World and Panda World booked on a Q-Pass.
Coaster fans and teenagers: Everland, for T Express. Go on a weekday, take the 4105 bus, and be at the gate when it opens.
Panda fans: Everland before the third week of December 2026 to see the twins.
Longer stay, theme park lovers: Do both. Everland on a clear weekday, Lotte World on whichever day it rains. For other full-day options, see our day trips from Seoul guide.
