Landing at Incheon after midnight: night buses, taxis or a bed at the airport
After about 11 p.m. the trains are gone or going, and the night buses leave Terminal 2 twenty minutes before they reach Terminal 1. Here's what's left at each hour.

Quick answer
- Before about 10:30 p.m. out of arrivals: the AREX express still runs; its last train leaves Terminal 2 at 10:40 p.m. and calls at Terminal 1 a few minutes later.
- Until about 11:30 p.m.: the last all-stop train to Seoul Station leaves Terminal 2 at 11:32 p.m.; the 11:50 p.m. one ends at Digital Media City, short of Hongdae.
- From 11:20 p.m. to about 5 a.m.: four Seoul night buses (17,000 to 18,000 won) run to Gangnam, Myeongdong, Seoul Station, Dongdaemun, COEX and Jamsil, with no departures from 1:50 to 3:20 a.m. at Terminal 2 (2:10 to 3:40 a.m. at Terminal 1).
- Taxi: the official rank works all night; Seoul and Incheon taxis add 40% from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. and 20% until 4 a.m.
- Or sleep there: Darakhyu capsule rooms in both terminals, from 69,000 won for 12 hours overnight on weekdays.
- Last train to Seoul Station
- 11:32 p.m. (T2)
- Night bus fare
- 17,000-18,000 won
- Taxi night surcharge
- 40%, 11 p.m.-2 a.m.
- Capsule bed overnight
- From 69,000 won
Your flight gets in at 11:30 p.m., or it was supposed to land at 9 and is now running two hours late. By the time you clear immigration and collect a bag, the airport train is close to done for the night. Seoul still has ways in after midnight, but they depend on which terminal you’re in and roughly what time you walk out of arrivals, so count from that moment, not from the landing time on your ticket.
The short version
If you’re out of arrivals before about 10:30 p.m., take the AREX express to Seoul Station. Up to about 11:30 p.m., the all-stop train still gets you to Hongdae and Seoul Station; the last one after that stops short. After that, a night bus is cheapest if one of its stops is near your bed: four routes cover Gangnam, Myeongdong, Seoul Station, Dongdaemun, COEX and Jamsil for 17,000 to 18,000 won (about $13 to $14). They start at Terminal 2 and reach Terminal 1 twenty minutes later.
If no night bus stop is close, or you’re two or three people with big bags, take a taxi from the official rank and accept the night surcharge. If you land between about 2 and 3 a.m., or your hotel won’t check you in until the afternoon anyway, a capsule room in the terminal and the first train a little after 5 a.m. can be the calmer choice.
What still runs at each hour
Times below are when you’re standing in the arrivals hall, not when the wheels touch down. Allow 30 to 60 minutes for immigration and bags.
| Out of arrivals | Best option | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Before about 10:30 p.m. | AREX express to Seoul Station | Last train leaves T2 at 10:40 p.m. |
| 10:30 to 11:30 p.m. | AREX all-stop | Last to Seoul Station leaves T2 at 11:32 p.m.; the 11:50 p.m. ends at Digital Media City |
| 11:20 p.m. to 2 a.m. | Night bus, or taxi | Buses about every 30 to 60 minutes per route |
| About 2 to 3:30 a.m. | Taxi or wait | No night bus: T2 gap 1:50 to 3:20, T1 gap 2:10 to 3:40 |
| 3:30 to 5 a.m. | Last night buses, or wait for the first train | First all-stop trains leave T2 at 5:18 a.m. |
Night buses from both terminals
As of October 2026, Incheon Airport lists four Seoul night buses. Every one starts at Terminal 2 and calls at Terminal 1 twenty minutes later, so the airport lists them on separate pages per terminal; here they are side by side.
| Bus | Goes to | Fare | Leaves T2 | Leaves T1 | Stop |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| N6000 | Songjeong, Yeomchang, Gangnam Express Bus Terminal | 17,000 won | 11:50 p.m., 12:30, 1:10, 1:50, 3:20, 4:00 a.m. | 12:10, 12:50, 1:30, 2:10, 3:40, 4:20 a.m. | T1 6A |
| N6002 | Hongik Univ. (Hongdae), Four Seasons Hotel, Heunginjimun, Cheongnyangni | 17,000 won | 11:40 p.m., 12:10, 12:40, 1:20, 3:40, 4:20 a.m. | 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:40, 4:00, 4:40 a.m. | T2 24, T1 6A |
| N6701 | Mapo, Seoul Station, Euljiro 1-ga (Myeongdong), Dongdaemun Design Plaza | 18,000 won | 11:30 p.m., 12:20, 1:20, 3:25, 4:20 a.m. | 11:50 p.m., 12:40, 1:40, 3:45, 4:40 a.m. | T2 18, T1 3B |
| N6703 | Seorae Village, COEX, Jamsil Lotte World, Gangbyeon, Gwangnaru | 18,000 won | 11:20 p.m., 12:00, 12:45, 1:25, 3:30, 4:30 a.m. | 11:40 p.m., 12:20, 1:05, 1:45, 3:50, 4:50 a.m. | T2 19, T1 3B |
At Terminal 2 the stops are on basement level 1 of the Transportation Center; at Terminal 1 they’re outside the 1st-floor arrivals hall. From Terminal 2, the airport puts Hongik University about 65 minutes away, Seoul Station 80, Gangnam Express Bus Terminal 90 and COEX 85. Buy tickets at the counter or the ticket machines; N6701 and N6703 also take the T-money Go app.
Two things the timetable doesn’t make obvious. N6001 still appears on the Terminal 1 stop map, but the airport publishes no times or fare for it, so treat it as not running unless you’ve confirmed otherwise with Airport Limousine, the N6000 operator (02-2664-9898). And if you’re heading to Suwon, Seongnam, Goyang, Bucheon or Uijeongbu rather than Seoul, Gyeonggi’s own night buses leave Terminal 2 just twice, at 12:10 a.m. and 3:50 a.m.
The last trains
The AREX express runs nonstop to Seoul Station, and its last departure leaves Terminal 2 at 10:40 p.m., calling at Terminal 1 a few minutes later. Our Incheon Airport to Seoul guide has its fare and how to buy the ticket.
The all-stop train runs later. Published timetables show the last one to Seoul Station leaving Terminal 2 at 11:32 p.m. and Terminal 1 at 11:38 p.m., reaching Seoul Station at 12:38 a.m. One more leaves Terminal 2 at 11:50 p.m., but on ordinary nights it only goes as far as Digital Media City, as Korean press noted when AREX extended it for the 2025 Lunar New Year. That’s one stop short of Hongik University and three short of Seoul Station, and a taxi from DMC at that hour costs a fraction of one from the airport, but it’s still a taxi. If you need Hongdae or Seoul Station, check the destination on the platform screen: you want a train that says 서울역 (Seoul Station), not 디지털미디어시티 (Digital Media City). AREX’s own timetable pages wouldn’t load for us in October 2026, so check the times on the screens in the station or call AREX on 1599-7788. The station is on basement level 1 of each terminal’s Transportation Center.
In the morning, the first all-stop trains toward Seoul leave Terminal 2 at 5:18 a.m. and Terminal 1 at 5:24 a.m.
Taxis after midnight
The official ranks are just outside arrivals and work all night. At Terminal 1, regular taxis wait at 5C, 6C and 6D. At Terminal 2, take 7C for Seoul, 6D for Gyeonggi and 5D for Incheon. Deluxe and jumbo (9-seat) taxis wait at 7C or 8C in Terminal 1 and 7D in Terminal 2.
The airport lists the night surcharges for regular Seoul and Incheon taxis: 20% from 10 to 11 p.m., 40% from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., and 20% again from 2 to 4 a.m. Gyeonggi taxis add 30% from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., and deluxe and jumbo taxis add 20% from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. There’s no out-of-city surcharge for a ride from the airport into Seoul.
What that means in won: a driver YTN interviewed in July 2026 had metered 56,000 to 61,000 won on his ordinary rides from Seoul to the airport that year, and the expressway toll adds 3,200 won. Add 40% and a ride that starts between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. lands around 80,000 to 90,000 won (about $60 to $68) by our arithmetic; after 2 a.m. the surcharge drops back to 20%. That’s a lot for one person; split three ways it’s under 30,000 won each, not far off a night bus ticket plus a short taxi at the other end.
Groups with lots of luggage should go straight to the jumbo rank. And only get in at the rank: in October 2026 YTN reported more than 6,000 complaints of unfair taxi fares from foreign tourists in Seoul since 2021. To report one, call 120 (Seoul’s Dasan call center).
A pre-booked car costs more than a night taxi from the rank, but it’s waiting when you walk out, even after a delay.

Sleeping at the airport instead
Darakhyu, a capsule hotel run by Walkerhill, has branches on the public side of both terminals. At Terminal 1 it’s on the 1st floor of the Transportation Center; its showers and rest space are open 24 hours. At Terminal 2, as of October 2026, a single bed costs 32,000 won for day use (3 hours minimum) and 69,000 won (about $52) for overnight, which covers 12 hours from check-in, with extra hours at 10,000 won. Overnight means anything outside 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the rates are weekday ones, and weekends and holidays can cost more. The single sleeps one person; book ahead if your arrival is fixed.
If your onward flight leaves from the airside, the 24-hour transit hotel and nap zones in our layover guide are a better fit than Darakhyu.
Waiting it out on a bench is possible too, since the terminals stay open overnight, but it’s only worth it if your hotel won’t let you in until the afternoon anyway.
Mistakes that catch visitors out
- Planning from the landing time. Immigration and bags can eat an hour; use the time you’ll be in arrivals.
- Waiting at Terminal 1 for a bus that’s full from Terminal 2. Buses start at Terminal 2. If you’re in Terminal 1 on a busy night, be at the stop early.
- Boarding the 11:50 p.m. all-stop for Hongdae. It ends at Digital Media City.
- Counting on N6001. The airport gives no timetable for it.
- Landing at 2 a.m. and expecting a bus. No night bus leaves Terminal 2 from 1:50 to 3:20 a.m., or Terminal 1 from 2:10 to 3:40 a.m.
- Taking a ride from someone inside the terminal. Use the rank.
- Arriving with no data. Have an eSIM working before you land (our eSIM guide) so you can show the driver your hotel on a map.
What we’d do
Out of arrivals before 10:30 p.m.: take the AREX express, or the all-stop if you’re going to Hongdae.
Out by 2 a.m., hotel near a night bus stop: take the bus. N6701 for Myeongdong, Seoul Station and Dongdaemun, N6000 for Gangnam, N6703 for COEX and Jamsil, N6002 for Hongdae and the Four Seasons Hotel by Gwanghwamun.
Out by 2 a.m., hotel nowhere near a stop, or three people with bags: take a taxi from the rank and budget around 80,000 to 90,000 won.
Landing between 2 and 4 a.m., or with a late check-in at your hotel: book a Darakhyu room and take the first train after 5 a.m.
Late flight that often runs later, or travelling with kids: pre-book the car, so the 90 minutes of free waiting covers the delay and someone’s there with your name.
Questions people ask
Is Incheon Airport open 24 hours?
The terminals stay open overnight, and the taxi ranks and night bus stops work through the night. Shops, counters and the train don't: the AREX express stops before 11 p.m. and the last all-stop to Seoul Station leaves Terminal 2 at 11:32 p.m.
Is there a night bus from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong?
Yes. N6701 stops at Euljiro 1-ga (by the Lotte Hotel), at the edge of Myeongdong, after Mapo and Seoul Station. It leaves Terminal 2 from 11:30 p.m. and Terminal 1 twenty minutes later, for 18,000 won.
Does the N6001 night bus still run?
airport.kr still shows N6001 on its Terminal 1 stop map (stop 6A) but gives no timetable or fare for it, unlike the other four routes. Don't plan around it without calling Airport Limousine on 02-2664-9898.
Can you sleep at Incheon Airport?
Yes. The cheapest proper bed on the public side is a Darakhyu capsule room: at Terminal 2 a single costs 69,000 won for 12 hours overnight on weekdays. The first all-stop train leaves Terminal 2 at 5:18 a.m.
How much is a taxi from Incheon Airport to Seoul at night?
Ordinary rides between Seoul and the airport meter at roughly 56,000 to 61,000 won plus a 3,200 won toll. Between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. the 40% surcharge pushes that to around 80,000 to 90,000 won; from 2 to 4 a.m. it's 20%.
