Incheon Airport to Seoul: every option, priced (2026)
Train, bus or taxi. The right answer depends less on price than on where your hotel is and what time you land.
Take AREX if you're staying near Seoul Station or Hongdae, a limousine bus if one stops at your hotel, and a taxi after midnight or with three people and big bags.
Quick answer
- Fastest to Seoul Station: the AREX express train, about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 (around 11,000 won; check the current fare).
- Cheapest: the AREX all-stop train, roughly 5,000 won with a T-money card, about an hour to Seoul Station.
- Door to door with luggage: a limousine bus for 17,000 to 18,000 won, if a route stops near your hotel.
- Landing after the trains stop: night buses run to Gangnam, Seoul Station and Dongdaemun, or take a regular taxi from the rank.

You’ve just cleared immigration after a long flight, you have a suitcase, and a dozen signs are pointing you at trains, buses and taxis. Incheon Airport sits on an island about an hour west of central Seoul, so this isn’t a five-minute hop. Pick the wrong option and you can end up hauling bags up subway stairs for half an hour. Pick the right one and you’re at your hotel without thinking about it.
The trick is to work backwards from where you’re sleeping, not from what’s cheapest.
The short version
If your hotel is near Seoul Station, Myeongdong or Hongdae, take the train (AREX). The express goes nonstop to Seoul Station; the all-stop costs about half that and also serves Hongdae. If you’re in Gangnam, Jamsil or anywhere far from an AREX stop, a limousine bus that stops near your hotel beats a train with two transfers. After midnight, or with a group and lots of luggage, a taxi from the official rank is the easy answer.

The train (AREX)
The Airport Railroad runs two kinds of train from stations under both terminals.
The express runs nonstop from the airport to Seoul Station. The adult fare was set at 11,000 won in October 2023; some 2026 reports quote a higher figure, so check the fare on the AREX site or at the ticket counter. It takes about 43 minutes from Terminal 1, a little longer from Terminal 2. Buy the ticket at the AREX counters or machines in the airport station. Express trains run less often than the all-stop and finish earlier in the evening, so if you land late, check the timetable on arex.or.kr before you count on one.
The all-stop is the commuter line. Tap a T-money card and pay roughly 5,000 won to Seoul Station. The airport’s own route map puts Seoul Station 66 minutes from Terminal 2. It’s slower, but it stops at Hongik University (for Hongdae), Gongdeok and Digital Media City, and it connects to Gimpo Airport. Trains are frequent and run later than the express.
At Seoul Station you can change to subway Lines 1 and 4 or to the KTX. Our transit card guide covers which card to buy for the all-stop.
Flying home from Seoul Station? The city airport terminal there reopened in August 2026 after a renovation. Express train passengers on participating airlines can check in, drop bags and clear immigration before getting on the train. The airline list changes, so confirm yours is there before you rely on it.
Limousine buses
These are coach-style buses with luggage holds, and they drop you at hotels and stations across the city. For many visitors they’re the most comfortable option, because the bus stops near the door and you never touch a staircase.
There are two main operators, and the 6000-series route number tells you where you’re going:
- Seoul Airport Limousine (17,000 won): 6001 to Dongdaemun, Myeongdong and Seoul Station; 6002 to Cheongnyangni, Jongno, Sinchon and Hapjeong; 6005 to Gwanghwamun and City Hall; 6013 to Konkuk University and Seongsu; 6015 to Myeongdong, Gongdeok and Mapo.
- KAL Limousine (18,000 won on route 6701): 6701 to City Hall, Gwanghwamun and big hotels around Myeongdong; 6702 to Namsan and Dongdaemun; 6703 to Gangnam and COEX; 6705A to Jamsil.
From the airport, buy your ticket at the bus ticket counters or kiosks inside the arrivals hall before you go out to the stop. KAL’s route 6701 has its last departure at around 10:05 p.m. from Terminal 2 and 10:25 p.m. from Terminal 1. Check your route’s last bus on the operator’s site if you land in the evening.
Taxis
Use the official taxi ranks outside arrivals. At Terminal 1, regular taxis wait at 5C, 6C and 6D. At Terminal 2, Seoul-bound regular taxis wait at 7C.
Regular taxis start at 4,800 won. To most of Seoul you’ll pay somewhere around 55,000 to 70,000 won on the meter: a YTN check in July 2026 put a 73 km ride to Gwangjin-gu in eastern Seoul at about 69,000 won. There’s no out-of-city surcharge for trips into Seoul.
Deluxe and jumbo taxis (black, or 9-seater vans) start at 7,000 won and cost more overall. Worth it for a family of five with luggage, not otherwise.
Tolls go on top. The airport expressway toll toward Seoul has been 3,200 won for cars since October 2024.
Late-night surcharges apply on regular Seoul taxis: 20% from 10 to 11 p.m., 40% from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., and 20% from 2 to 4 a.m. Deluxe taxis add 20% from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
More on fares, apps and paying in our taxi guide.
Landing late at night
The trains and regular limousines stop running late in the evening, but Seoul runs night buses from Terminal 1:
- N6000 to Gangnam Express Bus Terminal, 17,000 won. Departures from 12:10 a.m. to 4:20 a.m.
- N6001 to Seoul Station and Sinyongsan.
- N6002 to Cheongnyangni, 17,000 won. Departures from midnight to 4:40 a.m.
- N6701 to Dongdaemun Design Plaza, 18,000 won. Departures from 11:50 p.m. to 4:40 a.m.
- N6703 to Gwangnaru Station, 18,000 won. Departures from 11:40 p.m. to 4:50 a.m.
There are gaps of an hour or more between some departures, so check the airport website for the next one when you land. If you’re arriving very late and there’s a bus gap, a taxi at the 40% surcharge is still the most reliable way to your bed.
Mistakes that catch visitors out
Expecting the Climate Card to work from the airport. It doesn’t. You can ride AREX to the airport on the pass, but you can’t board there with it. Use T-money or buy a ticket.
Looking for a KTX at the airport. KTX trains to Incheon Airport were suspended in March 2018 and never came back. Heading straight to Busan? Take AREX to Seoul Station and change, or take limousine 6004 or 6014 to Gwangmyeong KTX Station.
Getting in a “taxi” that found you. The airport warns that call vans posing as taxis tout for fares inside the terminal and overcharge. Walk to the marked taxi rank.
Taking the express to Hongdae. The express doesn’t stop there. The cheaper all-stop does.
Not checking the receipt. Meters print receipts. If a figure looks wildly wrong, ask before you pay. The YTN story above started with a driver typing an extra zero.
What we’d do
Staying near Seoul Station, Myeongdong or City Hall: AREX express, then a short taxi or one subway stop. Or limousine 6001, 6015 or 6701 if one stops at your hotel.
Staying in Hongdae or Sinchon: AREX all-stop to Hongik University. It’s cheap and direct.
Staying in Gangnam, COEX or Jamsil: a limousine bus (6703 or 6705A). The train means changing lines with your bags at least once.
Group of three or four with big bags: a regular taxi. Split four ways, it costs about the same as the bus and drops you at the door.
Landing after 11 p.m.: check the night bus times for your area. If your hotel isn’t near a night bus stop, take a taxi.

Questions people ask
Can I use a Climate Card on the train from Incheon Airport?
No. The Climate Card pass can take you to the airport if you board inside its coverage area, but you can't start a trip at the airport with it. Use T-money or buy a ticket.
Is there a KTX from Incheon Airport?
Not anymore. KTX service to Incheon Airport was suspended in March 2018 and hasn't come back. Take AREX to Seoul Station and change there, or a limousine bus to Gwangmyeong Station.
How much is a taxi from Incheon Airport to Seoul?
A regular taxi to most of Seoul runs somewhere around 55,000 to 70,000 won on the meter, plus a 3,200 won expressway toll. Late-night surcharges of 20 to 40% apply between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
What if my flight lands after midnight?
Night buses N6000, N6001, N6002, N6701 and N6703 leave Incheon Airport between about 11:40 p.m. and 5 a.m. for Gangnam, Seoul Station, Cheongnyangni, Dongdaemun and Gwangnaru. Otherwise use the official taxi rank.
Do I need to book the limousine bus in advance?
No online booking is needed, but from the airport you buy your ticket at the bus ticket counters or kiosks before you board, not on the bus.
